Did you know that with your APL card you have access to more than just books? The Library of Things collection contains a variety of other types of objects that you can borrow with your library card, like a telescope! Ever wanted to take a look at the stars or witness a cosmic event? Now you can!
Besides looking at the night sky, the telescope is also for terrestrial use. What does that mean? If you're a nature lover, the telescope is also for you! The telescope can be used to explore the wildlife all around us. I found it lightweight and easy to assemble, all things you want in a piece of equipment to bring with you on the go, whether that's a weekend at the cottage, a nature walk, or a camping trip.
Why not try your hand at a new hobby, like birding? Using the telescope, you can spot birds in the distance or hiding up in trees. Paired with the binoculars we also have in the Library of Things, there's so much to discover. Check out this handy video on how to get started using binoculars and telescopes in your birding adventures.
APL also has plenty of books to help you identify any of the wildlife you might find using the telescope. Check out this Staff List on Ontario birds.
