Teen of the Month: Signy

At Aurora Public Library, we're passionate about celebrating the voices, talents, and passions of the amazing teens in our community. Each month, we highlight a local teen to learn more about who they are, what inspires them, and how they stay curious, creative, and connected.

This month, we're excited to introduce our Teen of the Month: Signy, from Dr. G.W. Williams. Signy is one of the Summer Reading Challenge  (SRC) volunteers  at the library.

  1. What book are you currently reading? What do you think of it so far?

I'm not reading anything right now, but I plan on reading Can't Spell Treason Without Tea.

  1. How do you usually discover new books to read?

I normally discover new books through social media, either from book suggestions or fan-made content.

  1. Have you ever read a book that changed how you see the world? Which one?

I've read many books that changed my view of the world, but a recent one would probably be the Heaven Official's Blessing series. It shows that going through hardships yields the best results in the end.

  1. What subject do you enjoy the most in school, and why?

I like math because it's straightforward with its answers, yet there are many ways you can solve the equations. .

  1. How do you stay motivated during the school year?

Normally, I stay motivated knowing that doing the schoolwork is less stressful than putting it off.

  1. What’s one study tip or habit that works well for you?

I usually either rewrite all of the material and review it, or turn the study material into a game to make it more fun. 9. For me, it's many people—like family, friends, coaches, and teammates.

  1. Who inspires you to do your best in life?

For me, it's many people—like family, friends, coaches, and teammates.

  1. What’s one skill or activity you’d love to learn and why?

I would like to learn ASL, since I think it's a cool skill that will really benefit me in the future.

  1. How do you see libraries helping teens in your community?

Library is helpful for teens studying during the school year, but it's also great for borrowing materials like books.

10. What would you like to see more of in your local library?

I would enjoy seeing more craft activities where the community can make decorations for the library or around Aurora.
