Need to get a head start on studying and finishing assignments before midterm season? Look no further than the Aurora Public Library! We have a wealth of online resources available at your fingertips, which will provide just what you need for this semester. In this blog post, I will be discussing two different types of academic support that the library offers.
Academic OneFile
Academic OneFile is located on the APL Website. Go to the Online Library tab and click Research & Reference. Academic OneFile offers a range of topics students and academics can browse. You will be brought to a landing page where you can begin your research.

Disciplines include criminal justice, history, political science, psychology, biology and more. You can also use the search bar if you want to perform a deeper search. Once your topic is selected you can explore news articles, books, magazines, and academic journals. You can also filter to include only peer-reviewed papers, subjects, and search within documents to find information that your assignment requires.

When clicking into an article, you will find an abstract explaining what it is about, the subject this article touches on and more articles that you can use to further your research. They will also give you the date, what journal and issue this article is from, and word count. In the top corner, you will find how to tabs that will help you cite the article, download it, print, or highlight and make notes in it.

Britannica Library
Under the same Research & Reference tab, you will find Britannica Library. In Britannica, resources are divided into children, Young Adult, and Reference Center making this a functional site for researchers of all ages.

When searching under the any of the sections, you will have access to the navigator, bring you to sections you are interested in exploring, you will be able to cite, send, save, or print the article. Change the font to OpenDyslexic (a great tool if you have Dyslexia), translate to a different language, or increase and decrease the font size. You can use the Navigator to see the other sections in the article and have the article be read to you.

Britannica Library also offers an interactive experience, where students can learn by interacting with the subject matter. This is a great tool for younger students who have trouble engaging with material that is only reading based by adding an active action for participants to take part with.
