RESEARCHING AURORA

Learning about Aurora's local history is a way to connect with our past and understand how we arrived at our current moment. Having access to these primary documents can expand our worldview and help us contextualize our role in Canada over hundreds of years of history. By understanding where Aurora began, it will help us to visualize our future.

In 2025, Aurora Public Library collaborated with the Aurora Museums & Archives team in relocating a selection of our local history materials to their facilities, which are located across Town Square in the Museum and Archives. The collection can be accessed by contacting the Aurora Museum & Archives to set up an appointment.

Aurora Public Library still retains a small Canadian Reference Collection which can be accessed by the public. Please see below for a selection of titles, or visit our catalogue to view the full collection
