    The Aurora Public Library provides outreach to our community schools and is happy to bring the library to you. Library visits are available for both elementary as well as secondary schools and can cover a wide array of topics including research skills, introducing our eResources, how to use the library catalogue and demonstrating technologies from our Creative Studio. Programs can be tailored specifically to your students grade levels and can be modified to address the subjects or themes you are exploring in the classroom. For further information on arranging a visit please contact us.

    For Elementary School visits contact Polly Ross-Tyrrell, Children’s Librarian and for Secondary School visits contact Virgilio Medina, Young Adult Librarian.

    All materials may be returned to Aurora Public Library during our open hours. A return bin is also available at the Aurora GO Station - located at the northwest corner beside the bike racks close to Wellington.

    PLEASE NOTE: When materials are returned on a day the Library is not open, staff will check the materials in the next day of service. At that time, your account will be updated. Items returned to the GO return bin may appear on your account for a few days as material is picked up twice a week.

    Your membership expires every two years which allows us to make sure we have up-to-date contact information.  All monies owed to the Library must be paid in full before your account can be renewed. If you have work or school related membership, proof of continued school enrollment or employment is also required at the time of renewal.

    Contact information changes such as address, telephone number or email address should be reported immediately. If your card has expired, you can access your account but you can't place holds, renew items or check out any material.

    You can renew your checked out items in person, by phone or online using the library catalogue. You will need your library card account number and PIN number to access your account. Library materials may be renewed up to five (5) times except for:

    • Bestseller Express Items;
    • Items with hold requests;
    • Interlibrary loans (unless authorized by the lending library and renewed two days prior to due date).

    People place holds on items so they can come pick them up later, to get an item that is already checkout to someone else or to reserve a spot in line so they can pick up a popular item when it is ready.

    If you would like to place a hold on an item you an item,  you can either request the material in person, by phone or online through our catalogue. When the material arrives, we will notify you by phone or email (as per your notification preference). You will need to pick up your hold before the expiration date indicated in the notification message. You may have up to 30 active holds at a time.

    Picking up your hold

    When your request is ready for pickup, a hold slip will be printed and your item(s) will be placed on the Hold Shelf on the first floor. You may pick up your hold until the expiration date specified in your notification message. Holds are filed by the first four (4) letters of your last name, then by the last four (4) digits of your library card account number. Interlibrary loans and video game holds are kept at the Customer Service desk. All holds must be checked out before you leave the Library.

    Page application forms are also available at the Customer Service desk and can be returned to the desk, addressed to Human Resources.
