A new generation of library materials!
eBooks and eAudiobooks are nothing new, and are a staple to many people now; but did you know that your library card unlocks access to thousands of items, all for free?
Libby is the app that’s most used by library users and it’s home to our largest collection of eBooks and eAudio titles. If you’re a first time user, simply download the app onto your smartphone or device and sign in. Aurora Public Library purchases books in a consortium, which means that we pool our purchases with other libraries and share titles so that users all across Ontario get their books faster. Additionally, we purchase extra copies when our customers have lots of holds on specific titles- another way that the library gets what you want into your hands, faster!
What’s the difference between eBooks and eAudiobooks?
eBooks are a great way to enjoy books without the traditional bulk of a hard copy; all of your reading, available at your fingertips. You can read eBooks on your phone, tablet, computer, or eReader! Items are returned automatically, so you’ll never get an overdue notice, and you can even return early if you wish, all from the comfort of your own home, or work, or cottage, or plane, or school, or dentist - you get the idea!
eAudiobooks are a wonderful way to increase your reading hours while on the go. You can listen to books in the car, through speakers or headphones. There are no ads, and no gimmicks- just thousands of bestselling titles available for your ears. With Libby, you can play books at a faster (or slower) speed, bookmark pages, browse by chapters and even set a sleep timer, for those who like to fall asleep while they listen, but don’t want to miss their spot!
What else do you need to know?
eBooks and eAudiobooks are a perfect way to support your library without ever leaving your home! It makes reading easier and more accessible than ever and connects you to a world of exceptional (and free!) content. These digital titles always return themselves, so you never have to worry about something being “overdue”, and you can even return an item early if you finish, or find that it wasn’t your cup of tea. There is even a feature where you can “tag” a title that hasn’t been published yet, or that isn’t owned by your library, and then you’ll get a notification when it’s available.
