What is Summer Reading Club?
TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest bilingual reading program for kids.
It’s free, fun, and runs all summer long.
Kids read what they love, track their reading, and earn rewards along the way. All reading counts and every child can participate at their own pace.
You can join at the library, at home, or anywhere.
How it works
Register for Summer Reading Club and you will get:
- A reading notebook (while supplies last)
- Stickers (while supplies last)
- Activity challenges
- A brag tag on a chain
Use your brag tag to collect reading beads for every hour of reading.
What you can do this summer:
- Join drop-in programs every weekday from 2:30–4:30 PM
- Join themed Summer Reading Club parties every Saturday from 2:30–4:30 PM
Summer is full of chances to read, play, create, and explore at the library!
Why Read All Summer?
Reading during the summer helps children avoid the “summer slide.”
The summer slide refers to the learning loss that can happen when children take a break from reading and learning over the summer months.
Even 15 minutes of reading a day can help maintain confidence, strengthen reading skills, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning.

Prizes
Reading is rewarded all summer long!
- For every 1 hour of reading → 4 beads
- For every 2 hours of reading → 1 big bead
- For every 10 hours of reading → 1 prize from the prize bin (maximum of 5 free prizes)
- For every 20 hours of reading → 1 free book! (maximum of 5 free books)
Beads and prizes help celebrate reading milestones and keep kids motivated all summer long.
As children reach higher reading goals, they continue to be recognized for their progress and encouraged to keep reading all summer long.
