 OBOA: Writing Contest
 
In her novel Scarborough Catherine Hernandez writes about a marginalized community that although poor, is hard working, smart and resilient in the face of many challenges.
 
This year’s OBOA Writing Contest invites you to consider the meaning of “Resilience” focussing on your sense of the human spirit and community.
We'd especially love to receive submissions with a focus on "Resilience" as related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prizes:
1st Place in each category:  $100 Gift Certificate
2nd Place in each category: $50 Gift Certificate
 
Rules, terms & conditions
There are two categories: Youth (Ages 14 – 17) and Adult (Ages 18+).
Submissions can be in any genre, but must be original and unpublished in any form.
Maximum length 10 pages, double-spaced.
Handwritten submissions will not be accepted.
Manuscripts will not be returned, but the author retains all rights to their work.
Winners will be announced at the OBOA grand finale on November 14, 2020.
Winning stories will be published in the online edition of Borealis.
APL Employees/ Board members / Judges and their immediate families are ineligible to win.
