OBOA Writing Contest

Alison Pick’s opening line to Strangers with the Same Dream sets the stage for a journey into the magic of storytelling. Borrowing Alison’s opening for your own story, we invite you to submit your writing to the OBOA 2018 writing contest. 
 
Your first line is: This story begins with a lie.

Winners to be announced at APL’s Ontario Public Library Week Open House on Monday October 15, and via email or phone.
 
Rules, terms & conditions:
The contest is open to individuals ages 16+. 
Submissions can be in any genre, but must be original and unpublished in any form.
Maximum length 10 pages, double-spaced.
Handwritten submissions will not be accepted.
Manuscripts will not be returned, but the author retains all rights to his/her work.
Winning authors must be willing to have their stories published in the online edition of the 
Library’s quarterly magazine, Borealis, along with their photograph and a short bio.
APL Employees/ Board members / Judges and their immediate families are ineligible to win.
