FAQ

When will my holds be ready?

We're so pleased to be offering this popular new service! In these challenging times, the health & safety of our staff and customers remains our top priority. We have put many new procedures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has resulted in some delays. Please wait until you receive a notification alerting you that your hold(s) are ready for pickup before coming to the library. Thank you for your patience as we work to offer this new service.

What can I checkout with curbside pickup?

Any item that can be placed on hold can be picked up. Books for adults, children & teens, movies, music CDs, video games, nature backpacks, pedometers, power monitors and more!

I don’t have a phone / cell phone. Can I still use curbside pickup?

Please email the library at circulation@aurorapl.ca or call 905-727-9494 between the hours of 11-6 Monday to Saturday and we will schedule a time for your pickup.

Is the library accepting returns?

Yes. Our outdoor book drop and GO station book drop are both open 24/7. We ask that customers respect all social distancing guidelines when using the book drop to maintain distance from other customers and/or staff.

All material returned is properly quarantined to avoid transmission between customers.

Staff performing curbside pickup to vehicles will not be accepting returns. We ask that customers remain inside their vehicle during the interaction.

If I can’t return, will there be overdue fines?

No. We recognize that many are isolating for various reasons. As such, if anyone cannot return their items, no overdue fines will be charged for material due while the physical library is closed, and for at least 2 weeks after we reopen.

I don’t have a card / I lost my card / my card has expired. What should I do?

Please fill out this form and staff will email you a temporary barcode for use of our digital collections and services only. This email will also contain a link to schedule a Virtual Account Renewal appointment with library staff to present your ID via video conference and gain full borrowing, including Curbside Pickup, for our regular 2-year membership.

Is the library accepting donations?

We are asking customers to refrain from dropping off donations to the library at this time, in order to assist staff to safely and efficiently focus on providing curbside pickup, until further notice.

I have fines over $20 and my account is blocked. What can I do?

Please call the library at 905-727-9494 between the hours of 11:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Saturday (starting Monday, May 25) and we can process a credit card payment over the phone.

Due to increased demand required to operate curbside pickup, we will not be processing payments for fines under $20 until the library is fully reopened. Rest assured you still have full access to all digital and physical borrowing!
